GO WITH GOD

Bible Text: Psalms 127:1-2
“Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

The futility of human effort is premised on his inability or failure to journey with God in the path of life and destiny. Going with God in this context means getting God involved and allowing Him to take the lead in all the affairs of one’s life. To go with God is to submit oneself to His leadership, guidance, and direction. It is to allow God to carry out His will in one’s life. Those who go with God don’t make any attempt to do things by themselves without due consultation with God by the means of His Spirit. They surrender their life’s affairs and endeavors to God’s supreme control.

In today’s text, the psalmist gives us the very reason why we should go with God and get Him involved in the affairs of our lives. The simple reason is that all things are made possible with God. No man can do anything except with God. Without Him, labour becomes fruitless, effort becomes futile, and all manners of endeavors become unproductive. A journey without God will be full of storms, delays, falling and rising, disappointment, and failures.

In Luke 8:22-25, assuming Jesus was not in the boat with His disciples when a great storm came against their journey on the sea, to come out of the storm would have been difficult. If Elisha did not follow the sons of the prophet in 2 Kings 6:1-7, what would have happened when the axe head fell into the water? We need to gain the understanding that only God can make a difference; only He can make things happen. Nothing is practically impossible for those who get along with God. Going with God will help you to experience God’s active and visible presence. His involvement brings divine activities that will propel you into living a glorious life. His involvement gives you the needed power to push for the accomplishment of your divine purpose.

As you begin the journey of a new year, are you presently having the feeling that some things are too big for you to handle and you don’t know what to do? Going with God will solve the problem. Going with Him means allowing Him to demonstrate His power in your situation. It gets you focused on Him, leads you to depend on Him, and helps you to lay your cares on Him.

Beloved, if you must make brilliant success this year, you must learn to go with God. If your endeavor must be productive and bring fruitful results, then getting along with God is non-negotiable. Therefore, as you start afresh this year, I challenge you with the word of the Lord in Proverbs 16:3, which says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Prophetic Prayer
I pray for you today:

1. This year, the spring will not dry for your sake.
2. The source of life will send showers upon you and all your endeavors.
3. This year, your land will never be a parched one, your ground will never
   be fallow, and your vine will not wither.
4. You will be fruitful in season and out of season.
5. This year, nothing will separate you from God.

So shall it be in Jesus’ name. Amen.
